Easter in Spain is a big event. Unlike many Western countries, they have as public holidays the Thursday and Friday before Easter Sunday. This year that meant that the first working day of April this year was, in fact, yesterday - Monday 5th April.
A casual glance at the Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de Málaga reveals that sweet Michael Earle Architect (not forgetting his ever-faithful Sidekick Trish, of course) has been found
GUILTY OF EMBEZZLEMENT
to the tune of €74,000 already this April.
Blimey Mikey - that's some going! The courts have only been open for 1.5 days in April!
Amongst the claimants was Binky's ex Sales Director - claiming for approx. 7 MONTHS OF UNPAID SALARIES squandered by Michael Earle Architect.
Sales Director, Operations Director (x2), Finance Director, Marketing Director, Magazine Director....all of these senior positions (ultimately they meant nothign more than P.A to Binky, of course) are amongst those owed money by Earle.

Well, Orlando, we wish you and all others who have been robbed my Michael Earle Architect the best of luck with recuperating your money. Fat chance of Binky Earle getting his dues and paying out the money - he squandered it all on pointless, failed business trips to Dubai and luxury holidays to Morocco whilst the rest of us couldn't buy Xmas presents for our children.
Cunning and convincing he certainly is at conning people out of their money.

Correct Bubba. His track record with all his ventures - Diseño Earle Architects, Modern Zen Architects, Modern Design Magazine, Blueprint Modern Villas - suggests that for as long as Michael Earle Architect can hide behind the talents of those more capable than he, he does well.

ReplyDeleteScapegoating is a known practice in management where a lower staff employee is blamed for the mistakes of senior executives. This is often due to lack of accountability in upper management.
Scapegoating is Michael Earle's most optimal skill, but it doesn't remain within the confines of the office. No no no, clients are blamed for lack of wages, the government blamed for diminishing wages. The staff blamed for unfinished (or more like unstarted) building projects, as are the suppliers who don't get paid either. Starting to ring true?
I suppose this is all the fault of the courts... "They just don't understand how to run a modern architects practice - and I only fled to Thailand because I fell into a taxi and then stumbled onto a plane - purely by accident - with everyone's money in my sky rocket". Michael Michael Michael. When will it all end... and what of Villa La Jara - the ill-gotten post modernist castle on the hill - all in Trish's name we believe - oh and illegally built to boot. tut tut.
But Dave - it's only illegally built because the authorities refused to give Binky planning permission. It's not his fault - he had no option to but to go ahead and build it illegally.

They've said they'll happily swing by and see what's going on so we'll find out shortly unless of course Binky and Sidekick have taken to working remotely from a concrete bunker on a remote Pacific island as it's the only place they're safe from people they owe ripped-off money to.

ReplyDeleteIm from Indonesia. I remember couple of years back, 2008 i guess. I somehow end up at d'seno earle sites. There's vacancy there, and i said "wow, this look promising, nice place in Spain", and i pray a lot hoping to get a position, an interview at the least...
Sadly (or i should say luckily) the reply was saying the position is no longer available. And there goes my dream to explore other side of the world...
But to be honest, i just want to know how its like back then, when everything seems all good..it looks like a decent and fun place to work. As a former of the staff, could you guys share what its like back then?

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, in the past it has been a haven for dishonest crooks and sub-standard professionals like Michae Earle Architect and Sidekick Trish.
There are certainly no vacancies within Diseño Earle - bankrupt, outlawed and non-existant.
Like Michael Earle Architect himself. We understand he's now trying to scratch a grubby little existence for himself ripping poeple off in real estate.
But we thought he was an international architect....
